With competition for places at Oxford, Cambridge and other top British universities tougher than ever, Uni in the USA is a must-read for anyone thinking of studying across the pond.
Uni in the USA* is a Guide to US universities for UK students, written by the funny, sharp-eyed and very British Alice Fishburn when she was a student at Harvard.
Commissioned by The Good Schools Guide and published in 2004, this witty but highly informative guide gives excellent insider intelligence on why and how to apply and how to pay for it. Even better, there are hilarious reviews of about 35 top American colleges and universities.
This summer, an expansion of the original Uni in the USA is under way.
Meet the new Alice!
Cambridge student and American-Brit John Wallis couch surfed across the States by car and by Greyhound bus, criss-crossing west to east, south to north then west again, visiting a range of colleges and universities.
The new edition includes advice on how to choose a university, plus sharp and down-to-earth reviews of dozens more of American's top colleges (and a glossary to tranlate American into English).
Read John's blog, written as he uncovered America's ultimate higher education institutions, and saw the New World with old world eyes, at www.uniintheusa.blogspot.com . And of course read the new write-ups hot off the press.
